Asher has arrived

I am typing this with one hand, holding Asher in my other. He arrived on Sunday- 6 lbs, 2 oz, 20 inches long. He was 19 days early, but is perfect! I will give more details and pictures in a little bit. We are so excited to finally hold our Asher Israel.

Letting Things Slide

Devouring a cupcake with chocolate icing- a great mid-afternoon snack (or was it mid-morning?)
Peeling an onion- happily, this kept him occupied for a long time as he walked around my kitchen, peeling away.

I was feeling very pregnant today...Ezra took advantage of that!

Enjoying the Weather

Ezra LOVES pens...he put a bunch in his pocket. I counted them later- 14 pens!
Ezra playing ball with Delton
Ezra on top of the world (ha ha!)

I am loving the spring weather. It gives me energy. Thankfully, I am feeling much better after nearly a week of sickness. Ezra has been sick since Friday- it seems like allergies. Pray that this is not the start of a lifelong condition! It is so hard to see him miserable, and to hear his congestion as he sleeps at night.

I have 30 days until my due date. I am feeling the fatigue of pregnancy. No matter how much I sleep, simply making supper can wipe me out! The baby has been moving- big movements, often pushing out from the right side of my belly. He is definately growing and taking up more space inside me.

I feel so ready for this baby. His clothes are ready, the car seat is ready, the house is clean...It is a good feeling to know that whenever he comes, I won't be scrambling to prepare. That is one good part of feeling like I was ready to go weeks ago- I got things ready! Of course, the house won't stay clean for 30 days....

Nearing the end, I think

I think the pregnancy is almost over- but, i felt that way at 12 weeks, as well. I feel like I could go into labor any moment, then realize that I still have a month and a half left. This has been the craziest pregnancy. Time has been so messed up, in that I keep thinking the end is nearer than it is. Anyway...one of these days, I will have this little guy. Sooner or later, the end will come. Until then, you'll probably get a few more blogs on this issue...

Getting ready...

Ezra checking out the baby's bassinet.
Delton "getting" Ezra!
Daddy and Ezra enjoying Ezra's new toddler bed- Ezra thinks it is great fun to jump on!
Grandma and Grandpa Lehman and Ezra enjoying the sonogram pictures of the baby.

I have 8 weeks left to go. I have baby on the brain, I guess. It doesn't help that I had three dr. appointments today. Yikes! We are excited about the arrival of #2. I had an ultrasound today and was able to see 4D pictures of our little one- he looks like Ezra! I don't think a photo of the sonogram picture will do it justice- you'll have to wait to see what he looks like in person!

I am looking forward to Easter. I have been reading the account of the crucifixion in the different gospels. I always appreciate Easter so much more when I take the time to contemplate what Christ really did for me. I don't think I will ever fully understand what the cross means for me. Easter is truly an awe-inspiring day of celebration. He is Risen!

Pregnancy and Ezra

My little monster!
"I know something you don't know, mommy..."

I am waiting for an electrician to come in the next few minutes, which is why I'm not taking a nap. Why?? Well, Ezra put a plastic piece in the baseboard heater in our bedroom. Because of the odor that was ocurring, Delton finally found the melted piece last night. Great. Problem solved, right? The melting must have effected the thermostat in the heater, because the heater has not stopped running (at full strength) since the piece was removed. We roasted last night, and the room feels like a sauna! The electrician just arrived and is upstairs installing a new thermostat (and hopefully not waking up Ezra, who is sleeping in the next room!!). He keeps me on my toes- well, I guess obviously I haven't been as observant as I could be!!

My pregnancy is going well. I am sooo ready to have a baby!! I have 11 weeks left. At times, that feels incredibly long. At other times, I marvel that I have already been pregnant for 29 weeks. Most of the time, however, 11 weeks seems like a marathon- one I haven't trained for, but have to finish!! I look forward to holding this new one, experiencing his personality, seeing who he resembles, and being able to freely use his name! I have most of the baby clothes organized and in the dresser. I forgot to tell Delton that I moved Ezra's clothes to make room for the baby clothes. The other evening, as Delton is dressing Ezra (in almost total darkness, as the lightbulb had burnt out earlier in the day), I find him searching through Ezra's usual clothes drawer, quite confused!! Nothing seemed to be the right size as he pawed through 0-3 month onesies and tiny outfits. :) It is exciting to have little baby clothes around once again. I know it will be hard, but I can't seem to think past all the joys of having another child.

Enjoy the pictures of Ezra- he looks like a child who just put a plastic piece in a heater, doesn't he!!

Georgia!

Ezra, dad, and grandpa take a walk
Looking for dolphins!

We made it back from Georgia. We had a wonderful time at the Cen-Pe-Co Convention. We stayed at the King and Prince Resort on St. Simons Island, right on the Atlantic. It was amazing. We felt so blessed to be there. My sister came with us to help with Ezra. She was such a blessing, and Ezra did so well with her. The weather was great- and I got to see dolphins! I'll post some pictures. It is good to be home!

To CA and Back Again...YEAH!

Ezra getting his groove on!
My siblings, the spouses, nieces and nephew
Delton and Ezra at the Pacific
My brother and his wife, Cynthia
My new sister in law!

We made it to CA for my brother's wedding. It was a great time...but traveling with a 16 month old presents challenges, no matter how well behaved they are. For starters- have you ever spent five hours on an airplane with a 16 month old in your lap? I am still surprised that the airline allows it. It is chaos! Ezra did sooo well, but sitting still was not on his agenda. Poor Delton! He was up walking Ezra more than he was sitting.

As far as the weather- we experienced the biggest rainstorm they have had in 3 years. To compare- last year, the area we were staying in received a grand total of 3 inches of rain- all year. The night of the rehearsal dinner, they received 3 inches of rain- just in a few hours. Try having a rehearsal dinner in a tent in rainy 55 degree weather! It turned out very well, but required a lot of last minute adjustments (a makeshift floor, buckets to catch the rain, heaters...).

My brother's wedding was amazing. We had a lot of fun. The absolute highlight of our trip was the wedding reception, when Ezra was out on the dance floor the entire time. No kidding- when the music started, he headed for the dance floor. He wouldn't let anyone dance with him, but he be-bopped to the music, watching other people dance and trying to copy their moves. He was the center of attention- at times, having a circle of people around him watching his "moves". I laughed so hard I cried. He was out there for several hours. At one point, I had him in a back room where it was quieter. As soon as he heard the music start again, he grabbed my hand and led me out to the dance floor. He was amazing. The videographer couldn't get enough of him.

We are sooo glad to be home. It has taken us a few days to recover (Ezra didn't understand the time difference- he was wide awake at 4 a.m. two of the mornings.) As nice as traveling and experiencing new environments is, there truly is no place like home- and your own bed!

The Gift of a Son

This is a very Merry Christmas for us. This morning, we found out that we are having a son! What a Christmas present! We are very excited, and look forward to seeing our new son in May.

Procrastination

Delton is outside putting a ladder rack on his truck. Ezra is in bed (pray for him- he has a bad cough!), and I am facing a living room destroyed by toys and a kitchen filled with supper and cookie dishes. Thus the title to this blog. I didn't mean to stay on the computer so long, but one thing led to another and here I am writing a new blog.

We are going to my brother's wedding in January in CA. Does anyone have a maternity cocktail dress I could borrow? The invitation stated that dress is "cocktail attire". I would rather not buy a dress I will wear only once... Let me know if you have anything you think might work.

Whoops. I think I hear Delton coming inside. I better get busy!
(The picture was taken 12.24.04- an engagement picture. This year on 12.24.07, we will be having a sonogram of our second child. What a difference three years makes!)
